I just saw your Conan the Barbarian. I really like your version. I think that viewing Conan’s aggressors from the back of their horned helmets gives this illustration quite a bit of depth. I like it when the composition is set up for the viewer in this style. We are engulfed by the kinetic action. The musculature of Conan’s body is as magnificent as any escapee from Gold’s Gym in Venice Beach California. The style is a little bit reminiscent to the iconic Frank Frashetta and Boris Vallejo Art. This is that art that skirts the border between regular art and the imaginative art that is illustration . Barbarian art can be strangely beautiful because it stirs the imagination to a time in history when Vikings roamed and pillaged the English coast and we were little more that scheming animals. Barbarism was the key word as we fought to warm our battle weary bones in the soon to be brilliant light of the Renaissance and the birth of art the likes that history had never seen since the glory days of Rome, Greece city states and Egypt..
